As of today there is still no Offical BF2142 but that does not mean there isnt one out there. There is an un offical editor that converts the BF2 Editor terrains into the BF2142 ones. Theres a complete walk though how to do this on there forums plus tons of ourther tut's just hops on over to BF-2/2142 Editing Will be holding map compations as we progress.

I'm going to add to this thread and provide links for most apsects of the BF2Editor.

If you have a question or problem start a new thread in the BMH Maps and state the problem or question in the subject line. We will answer your mapping questions and the thread will help future mappers as most questions are common.

There are two "versions" of the editor. If you have BF2 installed and updated with the latest patch then;
http://bfeditor.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=4323
This link provides shortcuts to many of the tools you'll need now and in the future. At this point just download BF2Editor, Lightmap Samples and BF2 Terrain Painter (BF2_TPaint). These are the basic tools you'll need to create a map.

If you only have BF2142 installed then;
http://bfeditor.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=8419
You will also need the Lighmap samples and BF2_Tpaint as stated above.

All tutorials on the BF2Editor froums must be followed exactly as written or you will run into problems. Take the time to read through the entire post, many people will have the exact problem you may be having. The BF2Editor forums are a wealth of knowledge, but you may have to dig a little. I have 20 or so pages tagged as favorites for quick reference.

This task may look a bit daunting at first, but it really isn't too bad once you go through it once.

A problem that seems to be constant with downloading the BF2142editor is that the objects do not get unzipped and they need to be unzipped to be able to place objects in the editor.

Far as I know everyone runs it as XP compatable program, and it works fine. I will be joining the Vista users this week :( when my new Box shows up so I will be learning all of this all over again as well.

where, and which files, exactly do I need to extract? The bf2editor mod "bmh" fold or the battlefield2142 mod "bmh" folder? do i only need the client stuff unpacked or both client and server or just server?

same error on SP2 compatibility, running as administrator as well.

well, i don't see detail texture in the render menu, and yes, i was in terrain mode.

i think it's something with my files not being in the right area, but i can't figure out what it is exactly.
